Day 2 – Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2018

Day 2: 8/8/18

Today I went to the Grand Canyon. In many ways, I feel like that is all I need to say. The 600 pictures I took don’t and won’t do the beauty justice. I thought there would be less chance for people to get close to the edges, but I could easily see where people could fall over the side by trying to get better pictures, or whatever. I was amazed at how you could walk a hundred yards in any direction from the major tourist points and get basically the exact same views without any of the crowd. I was very pleased with the shots I was able to take, and I’m beginning to really like this photography thing.

I left after about seven miles of walking and almost went back early to the hotel, but decided at the last minute to stop at one last checkpoint on the way out of the park. I am so glad that I did. Most of the tourists were in the same spot, while I simply walked away from the beaten path, and found the most amazing views of the canyon. I probably could have stayed there longer but I started hearing a rattling sound that I had heard only on TV before, so I decided to turn and walk away back to my car immediately.

The drive in and out of the park was also very inspiring. I am really growing from this solo travel stuff. To say that it is freeing would be a vast understatement.

Not sure where tomorrow will take me yet… and that is quite freeing.
